Emmerdale couple take break from village months after arriving on ITV soap

Emmerdale: Gennie wants to speak to Chas alone 2015

Tom King (played by James Chase) and Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) were part of a surprise double exit on Wednesday’s instalment of Emmerdale.

Village vet Tom, who recently returned to the Yorkshire Dales, revealed he and his lover Belle were heading off to Venice for a romantic getaway.

While the characters will be taking a break from village life, they are set to return soon.

During the latest episode, Tom told Suni Sharma (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana): “Well there’s me all packed up for Venice tomorrow. Is [Rishi Sharma] gonna be alright?”

Suni replied: “Take him with you, I’m sure Belle won’t mind. She does know that I’m gonna be your plus one yeah?”

It comes after Belle actress Eden was whisked away to Italy by her boyfriend Ed Lewis earlier this summer.

The actress, who has been a staple on Emmerdale since 2005, took to Instagram to share a glimpse of her Italian holiday.

Sharing a selection of sun-kissed photographs, Eden captioned the pictures: “A few days in Southern Italy.”

The soap star looked effortless in a white strapless linen stress with her hair scraped back into a sleek ponytail.

Her co-stars were quick to comment on the post, with Victoria Sugden actress Isabel Hodgins writing: “This brings me so much joy.”

Belle’s love interest Tom returned to Emmerdale, with a new actor playing him, earlier this year after living abroad for some time.

Emmerdale boss Jane Hudson told Express.co.uk and other publications ahead of his return: “He’s back in England and is qualified as a vet, so I think we all know where he is gonna be working.

“Tom and Belle have a history, they see each other and rekindle things and we will be on a journey with Tom and Belle for some time as we play out stories for them.”

Longtime Emmerdale fans will recall Tom used to stalk Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and was not a good influence on Belle, but has he changed for the better?

Will Belle return from Venice with a ring on her finger courtesy of Tom?

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and ITVX.
