Strictly Come Dancing star ‘back at work’ just weeks after being eliminated

Since setting foot on Strictly Come Dancing as the oldest ever contestant to participate, Angela Rippon wasted no time in capturing the hearts of the nation with her professional dancer partner Kai Widdrington.

Week after week the couple continued to impress the judging panel with their dance floor finesse and constantly improving technique, however the couple sadly failed to make it beyond the Blackpool Tower ballroom when Angela was eliminated in week nine of the competition.

However less than a week after her heartbreaking elimination, it has now been revealed that Angela had already returned to her day job, filming BBC consumer series Rip Off Britain.

Speaking exclusively to OK!, Angela said: “I’ve been working hard because I went back to the day job, I’ve just come back from Manchester last week, where we’ve recording the last of the Rip Off Britain series that will be going out in January. So I’ve just gone back to work!”

Reflecting on her time on the show, Angela explained: “I had the most wonderful time, and I was very fortunate that I had the most wonderful partner.

She then continued: “ It was an adventure – a wonderful adventure and I enjoyed every moment of it.”

Crucially, Angela also revealed she would be returning to the ballroom floor in the not-too-distant future, as she is just one of this year’s celebrities taking part in the hotly anticipated Strictly Come Dancing tour.

Although work had kept her from dancing so far, Angela admitted: “I haven’t had time to feel that I’m missing out on dancing, but I shall be picking it up again in about a week’s time because we have to start rehearsals again.”

She then added that she was “very” excited about taking part in the tour, before finally saying:” I’m seriously looking forward to still having that connection again with the pros and fellow celebs as well when we go on tour.”

Angela and Kai were sadly eliminated from the show in week nine of the competition, when their American Smooth to the Ella Fitzgerald classic Tea for Two failed to win over the judging panel and viewers at home.

Following their performance the judges scored the dance 28 points, the lowest score out of the remaining couples performing in Blackpool – however it was the public vote which pushed Angela and Kai into the dreaded dance off.

It was in the dance off that the couple faced off against EastEnders star Bobby Brazier and his partner Dianne Buswell, who were tasked with once again performing their lively Jive to Wham!’s Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.

Following the performance, the judges decided to unanimously save Bobby and Dianne, bringing Angela and Kai’s dreams of taking home the glitter ball trophy to a heartbreaking end.
