Susanna Reid ‘confirms’ Phillip Schofield’s This Morning replacement

Ben Shepherd 'confirmed' to replace Phil Schofield on This Morning

Susanna Reid seemed to hint Ben Shephard could be joining This Morning on Monday’s Good Morning Britain.

Presenter Ben has been rumoured as a potential replacement for Phillip Schofield on the ITV magazine show, but it seems Susanna almost confirmed the speculation.

During the show, Susanna and co-host Ed Balls chatted to Loose Women star Coleen Nolan.

She joked Coleen had “defected” from the ITV chatshow, adding: “Is it revenge for This Morning nicking Ben Shephard?”

The rumours come after Phillip’s departure from the ITV staple earlier this year.

Ever since, co-star Holly Willoughby has continued to front the show along with a string of other presenters.

From Craig Doyle to Josie Gibson and Friday presenters Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond, many others have stepped in to host the show with Holly.

Ben has also tried his hand at the popular daytime show, having starred with Holly last Monday.

Some sources have claimed Ben would be the perfect permanent addition to the show.

“Ben did really well and the bosses loved his partnership with Holly and there was great feedback from many avenues,” they said.

Speaking to Mail Online, the source continued: “Ben is known throughout ITV as being very popular with the audiences of whatever shows he hosts.

“He is also trusted by the public and is much loved within ITV. He has hosted so many shows for the channel.”

Could Susanna’s remark have confirmed that Ben will in fact be joining the show as a permanent fixture?

ITV recently assured Express.co.uk that “no decisions have been made” regarding Phillip’s official replacement.

Elsewhere, it has been claimed that Ben has felt “torn” between This Morning and Good Morning Britain.

A source told Metro: “Ben loves doing both shows, but Susanna Reid really wants him to stay on Good Morning Britain.

“Although they are on the same channel, they’re sort of rivals and both need ratings, and Ben is great at bringing in viewers.”

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
