Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) is focused on hosting an event in the pub in upcoming Coronation Street episodes, desperately hoping it’ll be enough to save the boozer from closing for good.

Jenny is having finance problems at the Rovers as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, inflation and the cost of living crisis. To ensure things don’t get worse, she needs to earn more money – but that means increasing things like the prices for food and drink and rent at the B&B.

One family who could seriously change things for her is the Newtons. They partly own the brewery company – Newton and Ridley – and Jenny wants them to buy her business.

In an attempt to impress, Jenny and Daisy (Charlotte Jordan) organise an event that involves Glenda (Jodie Prenger) showing off her singing talent.

In this new video, however, Jenny and Daisy reveal to Philip and Henry (George Banks) that Glenda’s had to pull out as she has a croaky voice.

Jenny is left with no choice but to apologise to the father and son, but when he learns that Glenda’s replacement is a man called Glyn Young, he’s excited – but will the event end in tears?

Jenny and Daisy certainly panic when Glyn turns out to be an old man with hearing aids, is this a sign from the universe that positive days aren’t on the horizon for the Rovers Return?

If it does end badly, Steve (Simon Gregson) and George (Tony Maudsley) could end up being heroes of the cobbles, as they reveal later in the week that they’ve set up a crowdfunding page to increase their chances of saving the pub.

But will it work?
