Strictly Come Dancing winners Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola finally addressed the romance rumours that have been surrounding them since the beginning of the BBC One series.

Ellie, 22, and Vito, 31, were paired together on this year's Strictly and proved to be a perfect match both on and off the dance floor, with many fans noticing they'd grown close on the show. Rumours of a romance between the pair have been rife over recent weeks, but they have both refrained from speaking out.

However, in a joint interview on This Morning on Monday, 18 December, Josie Gibson asked the questions on everyone's mind as she quizzed Ellie and Vito on whether they are more than friends.

"Guys, I've got to ask because the chemistry between you is magic. We've seen you on that dance floor and it was so beautiful to watch. Is there any romance between you guys? Are any of the rumours true, or not?" Josie, 38, asked the pair.

Both Ellie and Vito began laughing at the question, with Ellie responding: "Honestly, we've just been having the most amazing time dancing, and we've built a really strong bond and a friendship that will last forever."

Vito went on to say he and Ellie "connected straight away" before adding: "We had that feeling that we'd known each other for a long time."

The Italian professional dancer also gushed: "Just so, so lucky to have you in my life," as he placed his arm around ex-Coronation Street actress Ellie.

Josie's co-host Craig Doyle was convinced Ellie and Vito were playing down their relationship, and exclaimed: "100% romance. I can see it!" as the pair fell about giggling.

Ellie and Vito's closeness on the BBC One series didn't go unnoticed by fans, from Vito telling to her to "eat me with your eyes" after a steamy Argentine Tango performance to a 'kiss' they shared at the end of another routine.

Sources have claimed the duo are an item, with one insider telling the Mirror: "Ellie and Vito have become so close that they're often seen all over each other, and the chemistry is striking. The rumour they're more than friends isn't openly discussed, but it's widely understood."

Meanwhile a pal of Ellie's revealed she and Vito were just friends initially, but as time went on things changed.

Ellie's pal said: "Initially, they were friendly but as the weeks went on, their relationship changed. Ellie has made it clear to friends how happy she is with Vito," as reported by the Mirror.
