Kourtney Kardashian details ultrasound that saved unborn baby's life

Pregnant Kourtney Kardashian opens up on  ultrasound that saved her unborn baby’s life – one month after undergoing ‘terrifying’ fetal surgery

Kourtney Kardashian has opened up about the ultrasound that saved her unborn baby’s life – one month after undergoing ‘terrifying’ emergency fetal surgery.

The reality star, 44, who is expecting a son with husband Travis Barker, 47, was rushed to hospital in early September after a complication arose in her pregnancy – with the star revealing a third trimester ultrasound uncovered the problem.

She told Vogue: ‘That experience opened my eyes to a whole new world of pregnancy that I didn’t know about in the past.

‘It was terrifying. After, I learned that insurance typically only covers two ultrasounds when you’re pregnant, I had no idea. I’ve always been lucky enough to do more than what insurance covers, and it’s one of those ultrasounds that saved my baby’s life.’

Last month when Kourtney documented the ordeal online, she shared a black and white photo of her and Barker holding hands.

Along with it was a heartfelt caption: ‘I will be forever grateful to my incredible doctors for saving our baby’s life.

‘I am eternally grateful to my husband who rushed to my side from tour to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterwards, my rock. And to my mom, thank you for holding my hand through this.’

Elsewhere in the chat Kardashian – who endured rounds of IVF before falling pregnant naturally – said she felt ‘pressured and pushed’ into fertility treatment and that it went ‘against her intuition.’

When the couple took a break from IVF they conceived naturally, with the star saying: ‘It was an indescribable feeling. Shock, then super-happy, fear sets in, worry, but I remembered then to have gratitude.’

The star also admitted she is ‘obsessed’ with pregnancy as she counts down to her due date with her fourth child –

The star also reflected on her baby’s health scare last month, saying: ‘It was terrifying. I feel that sooner or later I will go into detail because I hope that it could help others, but I don’t feel ready yet because it was really frightening.’

Within the profile, Kardashian revealed the restrictions her latest pregnancy has brought on, including sex.

She shared that her doctors advised, ‘No workouts, no Pilates, no caffeine and no plane trips. Even no sex! adding, ‘I think all this caution made me a little afraid because, in the past, I never had to be so careful.’

Kourtney announced in June that she is expecting a baby with Travis, with whom she tied the knot last year.

She dropped the bombshell during a Blink-182 concert, standing in the audience and holding up a sign that read: ‘TRAVIS I’M PREGNANT’ – a mischievous nod to a similar scene in the music video for the band’s song All The Small Things.

The news came over a year after Kourtney ended her IVF journey, which had subjected her to an onslaught of health issues, including depression.

On an episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians at the time, Kourtney shared that she ‘took a break to just focus on our wedding and getting married.’

She also admitted, ‘We would love a baby more than anything but I just really believe in what God has in store for us.’

She also spilled that she had ‘seven frozen eggs from years ago before Travis’ – a step she had taken when she was nearing the age of 40.

‘I am eternally grateful to my husband’:   The  reality star took to Instagram last month to share a black and white snap of she and her 47-year-old musician husband holding hands on a hospital bed

‘When I was 38 or 39 everyone was like, pushing me to do that and most of mine didn’t survive the thaw because eggs are one cell and none of them made it to an embryo,’ the eldest Kardashian sister said.

‘All the things that came with IVF took a toll on me physically. My health is still impacted because it’s hormones. And also mentally it took a toll,’ she said.

‘So, I think just being happy is most important and being a good parent to my kids. We are just embracing that whatever is meant to be will be.’
