Celebs in ‘open relationships’ — from Carol Vorderman to Megan Fox

It’s fair to say love and relationships come in many different forms — and traditional relationships aren't for everyone.

So much so that some people have chosen to have open relationships – where a couple allows the other to see other people. And the discussion of open relationships has never been more relevant than today.

On November 23rd, it was National Polyamory Day. Defined by the Cambridge English Dictionary, polyamory is the “practice of having sexual or romantic relationships with two or more people at the same time.”

The idea of sharing your boo might be put off-putting for some, but for others, it’s the complete opposite. And while many people keep their lips shut about being non-monogamous, others are more open – and that includes celebrities.

These showbiz stars are super in love but they don’t necessarily believe in being with just one person. From a Hollywood star’s alleged one-sided fling while married to Carol Vorderman’s five beaus on rotation, Daily Star has taken a look at the celebrities who are reportedly in an open relationship.

Drew Barrymore and Luke Wilson

Back in the early 2000s, Drew and Luke were two of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Drew found fame in moves like E.T., Never Been Kissed and Charlie’s Angels, while Luke, the brother of Owen Wilson, starred in Legally Blonde.

And the pair soon struck up a romance. But it turns out the pair also dated other people during their relationship.

In an episode of her talk show, Drew revealed: “I was dating him, I think. But I think he was also dating other people. It was an open relationship, we were young.”

Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green

Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green first struck up a romance in 2004. The pair were together for 15 years and share three sons.

But reports have claimed the pair allegedly had had a one-sided open relationship at one point in their relationship. Apparently, Megan allowed the freedom for a fling outside of their marriage.

A source reportedly told the New York Daily News in 2009: “They've agreed to an open relationship where Megan can see other men but Brian can't date anyone else.”

The pair ended up splitting in 2019. Since then, Meg has gotten engaged to Machine Gunn Kelly while Brian has been in a long-term relationship with Sharna Burgess.

Carol Vorderman

Carol Vorderman has been in the business for over 40 years – and has become a firm favourite with viewers. The ageless beauty also isn’t afraid to share the details of her love life.

In January this year, she appeared on Michelle Visage’s Rule Breakers podcast and at the time, revealed she was single and dating multiple men at the same time.

When asked if she was in a relationship, Carol retorted: "No! I'm having the best time. I've spoken about this once. I have a system which I've had for ten years. They're called 'special friends'".

She continued: "I spoke a couple of months ago about having 'special friends' and it was like, again, the world had fallen in for some people but actually what I found was there was an awful lot of women who said 'I'd never thought about it like this'."

"This whole assumption: 'Have you got a partner yet? Have you got a man?' Well, no actually I've got five'."

Carol then said she’d dated one of her boyfriends for 11 years. While another one she has been involved with for seven.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin

Gwyneth and Chris were together for 12 years before calling it quits in 2014. But that same year. it was reported that the pair allegedly had an open relationship during their 10-year-marriage.

A source allegedly told Access Hollywood: "If Chris was playing around, Gwyneth didn't care. She's never been jealous or territorial. Her philosophy is, 'We're both adults. We make our own choices.'"

9 to 5 hitmaker Dolly Parton and hubby Carl Dean tied the knot over 50 years ago, in 1966. Though the pair never welcomed children together, she helped raise several of her younger siblings, nieces and nephews together.

However, the two have always had a more open approach to their relationship. Dolly once admitted that “men are my weakness”, but says Carl knows she “loves him madly”.

Writing in her 2017 memoir Dolly on Dolly: Interviews and Encounters with Dolly Parton, Dolly admitted: “He's not jealous and I'm not jealous of him. He knows I flirt. He flirts too. Yes, it's an open relationship, but not sexually and I would kill him if I thought he was doing that. He would shoot me too. At the end of the day we love each other madly."
