Gemma Atkinson doesn’t fear Strictly curse and wants Gorka to ‘have chemistry’

Gemma Atkinson clearly feels secure in her relationship with Gorka Marquez after insisting her fiancé finds 'chemistry' with his next Strictly Come Dancing partner.

The couple, who share two children, met on the BBC show in 2017 as former soap star Gemma partnered Aljaž Škorjanec.

And despite many others finding love on the series – often leading to the downfall of previous relationships – the 38-year old claims she is not concerned by the so-called 'Strictly Curse'.

Next month will see Gemma stay remain at home in Manchester with the pair's newborn son, Thiago, and four-year-old daughter, Mia, as Gorka rehearses with his yet-to-be-revealed celebrity contestant in London.

Unconcerned, Gemma explained to OK!: "I remember when I had to dance the rumba with Aljaž. Everyone said, 'You have to look into his eyes and get close' and I was like, 'Oh my God, this is awful!'

"But the dance looked rubbish because I didn’t do it. So then I remember saying to Helen [Skelton], 'You’ve got to be passionate with Gorka, that’s part of the dance.' I’m always rooting for them to have chemistry!"

Last year's competition saw Gorka and Helen dazzle viewers and finish runners-up to Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystał.

Gemma continued: "I think Gorka and I are very lucky in that we’re both understanding of each other’s jobs. We’re chilled."

Gorka, meanwhile, added that romances and break-ups occur aren't exclusive to ballroom dancing, but occur in ever industry.

"It’s a myth," he said, referring to the curse. "That can happen everywhere in any job."

Yesterday (August 19), meanwhile, Gemma appeared to rule out having a third child as she described her "brutal" night with tot, Thiago.

Speaking on her Instagram story, she said: "Thiago is asleep… oh my God. Last night. Brutal. Brutal. We had a Tasmanian Devil in the bedroom and my scar was sore, you know, from picking him up loads.

"But do you know what? It's OK today but I am absolutely wrecked. I am just getting on with it but I know I'm never doing it again."

Gemma added: "We hoped for two if we could and we've done. I am never having another kid after this. When we had Mia, we said 'if we're lucky we'll do it again' but I'll never do it again."
