Mary Berry reveals her two favourite stars to cook with – and it's bad news for Paul Hollywood

MARY Berry has revealed her two favourite stars to cook with – and it's bad news for Paul Hollywood.

The 86-year-old worked alongside the Liverpudlian baker for six years on The Great British Bake Off, before leaving in 2016 when the show moved from the BBC to Channel 4.

Despite all their years working together, Mary failed to mention Paul, 55, when asked about which famous face she would choose as her ideal sous chef.

Mary, who will be back on our screens this month with new series, Love to Cook, told The Sun’s TV Mag: “Working with Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge was wonderful because she was so enthusiastic and would have a go at anything.

“She’s iced little cakes and she’s made a meringue roulade, with great skill and lots of fun!

“I also had such fun with Alex Jones when we cooked together for my Christmas special a few years back and she made rissoles.”

Mary added: “I fear they are both far too busy and important to be my sous chef though!”

Mary Berry: Love to Cook sees the star travel around the country to meet people who are just as passionate about food and cooking as she is.

Mary also shares some of her own fantastic recipes and heartwarming recipes,  hoping to inspire cooks of all capabilities.

She is also joined by her daughter Annabel and said: “It’s always so nice to be with Annabel because both of us love to learn more about the countryside and what you can eat from it.

“We went to Carmarthen Bay to experience foraging which was a real adventure. Annabel is a keen forager, and we were guided by Craig, an expert forager who was picking all sorts of green things for us to try.

“It’s very interesting going foraging with someone who really knows what they are up to. I had wanted to cook a samphire dish and we found masses of it near the sea, so we actually cooked samphire on the beach!”

Mary Berry: Love to Cook starts on November 11 on BBC Two. To read more from Mary's chat with TV Mag, pick up your free copy this Saturday, only in The Sun.
