Our Yorkshire Farm's Amanda Owen reveals she gave birth alone while husband slept 'because he'd seen it all before'

OUR Yorkshire Farm's Amanda Owen has revealed how she gave birth alone while her husband slept 'because he'd seen it all before'.

The 46-year-old star of the Channel 5 show has nine children with her husband Clive; Annas, Violet, Edith, Raven, Clemmie, Nancy, Reuben, Miles, and Sidney.

Having so many children has provided Amanda with a whole host of birthing stories to share, including the fact that she gave birth alone when in labour with her eighth child, Clemmie.

She revealed during an interview on This Morning: "I put the kettle on, stoked up the fire and basically had her in front of the fire with just a terrier as a birthing partner, which is perfect."

She added that Clive, 67, wasn't too fussed about being at the birth as he had already been present for the previous seven labours.

She said: "The point of the matter is he had been at seven births previously and we spend our whole lives dealing with birthing things, so it wasn’t exactly something that I was particularly bothered about.

"I did it myself and I’m very happy and pleased that I did."

She also told Radio Times: "Clive wasn't desperate to be at the birth, he was asleep upstairs. I went and woke him up with the baby.

"Of all the births I've had, this one has to have been the best – it was the most relaxing, the most quiet, the most peaceful."

Amanda has also had to give birth at the roadside on a number of occasions as their nearest hospital in Middlesbrough is 69 miles away.

And with her youngest child Nancy, Amanda didn't realise she was pregnant until she was already six months along.

She told The Mirror in 2016: "It came as a real shock because I had no signs of pregnancy whatsoever."

Our Yorkshire Farm airs on Tuesdays at 9pm on Channel 5.
